Live Performance

Emma loves performing on stage and her versatile vocal allows her to fit well into any style or performance set up.

Working consistently as a professional vocalist since age 14, Emma started with solo performances, with just an acoustic guitar. She is now performing in both original and cover bands, acoustic duos, jazz quartets, soul bands and big bands. She’s a regular lead musician, lead vocalist and sound engineer for the Blue Lion Band in Devon, Cornwall and Bristol and lead vocalist for Route One (FPM). She works with New World Trading Company with her acoustic duo, playing in restaurants, bars and clubs and events. She is the lead vocalist for Jazz trio ‘Mojito and often deps for bands in the Southwest.

Emma has the ability to harmonise by ear, lead the band, run rehearsals, manage events and additionally, she has a full professional PA and lighting set up and regularly takes the position of sound engineer whilst also being the lead vocalist. All these skills and qualities make Emma a very sought after musician.

Jazz Vocalist

Emma Watson is a versatile vocalist with the ability to take on most genres and give audiences an authentic experience within each of these. Recently, Emma was asked to join well-known Jazz Trio ‘Mojito’ as their vocalist. Playing at weddings, events and one of performances to sold out audiences. Emma’s jazz technique and skill is high sought after, her repertoire consisting of both jazz standards and more contemporary arrangements of popular music.

Emma’s incredible range allows her to recreate the wondrous tones of Ella Fitzgerald, effortlessly reaching up to the heavens, whilst flawlessly delivering Karen Carpenter’s lower range, for example.

Emma regularly works with jazz bands and her strong sense of musicality and Masters in Music allows her to lead the group from the front.

Studio Work

Emma has extensive experience in the recording studio. Working as a full-time session musician since 2009 and previous to that, recording in professional studios from the age of 14 years old. Emma has previously worked as a vocalist in studios such as Dave Stewarts (Eurythmics) studio ‘The Church’, ‘Composer.tv’ (Audi, T-Mobile), Metropolis Studios, and Sniffy Dog Music (Freesat, Just Eat, Net-A-Porter).

Emma is a published songwriter and top line writer in the UK and globally, working in songwriting teams like Audio Freaks Music (E&N), Grifter Music and Rawcus Studios. She has previously written for briefs for One Direction, Paloma Faith, Leanne Rhimes, Jessie J and Tom Jones, successfully publishing chosen songs with Peer Music.

Emma’s ‘happy place’ is the recording studio, consistently delivering high quality vocals in a variety of styles, taking direction well and working with producers and engineers alike.

Spin is an original song, part of Emma’s 30 songs in 30mins in 30 days challenge. Written and recorded in a day at Rawcus Studios in Devon.

Soul of the City Gospel Choir

Emma Watson is the Choir Leader and Musical Director for Soul of the City Gospel Choir in Exeter, Devon (www.soulofthecity.co.uk). She took over the choir in January 2023 and since then they have gone from strength to strength. The choir have already finalists in the BBC Gospel Choir of the Year 2024 and are playing to sold out audiences in large venues such as the Exeter Phoenix and Powderham Castle.

Emma has introduced a full time gospel band to enhance the contemporary choir sound and works closely with the incredible musical talent Alfie Pugh to push the choir and band to their absolute best. The gospel choir meets weekly, learning contemporary gospel music, soul and gospel inspired pop arrangements.

Soul of the City GOLD is an additional part of the company, made up of professional vocalists and musicians from the Southwest of England. Alongside the regular gospel choir, SOTC GOLD provide a gospel experience for weddings and events. Emma is Choir Leader, Musical Director and Vocalist.
